These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of MeraBakil ("Platform", "Service") operated at merabakil.in. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

Beta notice: MeraBakil is in open beta. The Service may change, be interrupted, or contain errors. Features may be added or removed without notice.

1. What MeraBakil is — and is not

MeraBakil is a technology platform that provides:

  • AI-powered legal information and research (Saarthi).
  • Tools for document management and case tracking.
  • A marketplace to connect users with independent advocates.

MeraBakil is not a law firm. We do not provide legal advice, legal representation, or attorney-client relationships. Nothing on the Platform constitutes legal advice. Always consult a licensed advocate for advice specific to your situation.

2. AI-generated content disclaimer

Saarthi and other AI features generate responses automatically based on Indian legal sources and your inputs. AI outputs may be:

  • Incomplete, outdated, or incorrect.
  • Not applicable to your specific facts or jurisdiction.
  • Not a substitute for professional legal judgment.

You are solely responsible for how you use AI-generated content. Do not rely on AI outputs for critical legal decisions without independent verification by a qualified advocate.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and capable of entering a binding contract under Indian law. By registering, you represent that the information you provide is accurate.

4. Account responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Keep your login credentials secure.
  • Provide accurate registration information.
  • Use the Platform only for lawful purposes.
  • Not attempt to bypass security, scrape data, or abuse AI endpoints.
  • Not upload malicious files or content that violates third-party rights.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. Marketplace & advocates

Advocates listed on MeraBakil are independent professionals, not employees or agents of MeraBakil. We do not guarantee the quality, availability, or outcomes of any consultation. Any engagement between you and an advocate is directly between you and that advocate.

MeraBakil facilitates booking and communication tools but is not a party to any legal engagement.

6. Fees & wallet

Certain features may incur fees (e.g., per-query charges). Applicable fees will be shown before you incur them. Wallet balances and transactions are subject to our billing policies. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis during beta.

7. Intellectual property

The Platform, branding, software, and curated legal knowledge base are owned by MeraBakil or its licensors. You retain ownership of content you upload. By uploading content, you grant us a limited licence to process it solely to provide the Service.

8. Beta terms

During beta:

  • The Service is provided "as is" with limited warranty.
  • We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.
  • Data loss, downtime, or inaccurate AI responses may occur.
  • Your feedback helps us improve; we may use anonymised feedback for product development.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Indian law:

  • MeraBakil is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.
  • Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or INR 1,000, whichever is greater.
  • We are not liable for actions or advice of independent advocates on the marketplace.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify MeraBakil against claims arising from your misuse of the Platform, violation of these Terms, or infringement of third-party rights.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time. We may terminate or suspend access for violations of these Terms or to protect the Platform and other users.

12. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts in India shall have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to applicable consumer protection laws.

We encourage you to contact us first at support@merabakil.in to resolve disputes amicably.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms. We will post the revised version on this page with an updated date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

14. Contact
